Centers of Excellence Annual Joint Meetings
The
1st Annual Joint Meeting
of the Air Transportation Centers of Excellence was held at the GE facility
in Cincinnati, Ohio from November 13-16, 2001. The meeting was hosted by the
Ohio State University and General Electric Aircraft Engines.
The theme of the meeting was
"Bridging the Gap" between government, academia, and industry.
The four Centers
involved in this first joint meeting were Airport Technology, Operations
Research, Airworthiness Assurance, and General Aviation. After the
Plenary sessions, technical presentations were given by each
Center. Four technical presentations were given by students, and posters
were displayed. The three way partnership
represented in the COEs allows for ground breaking research while training
new professionals in aviation. The student participation
in this first meeting showed clearly the results of this mission and was an
indication of the direction of the Centers in the future. In each of
the following joint meetings, student participation increased and became
more comprehensive in scope.
Each of the Centers was well
represented and the tradition of COE joint meetings was begun.

The 2nd Annual
Joint Meeting, Partners Working Together for Excellence in Aviation
was held in Wichita, Kansas.

The 3rd Annual
Joint Meeting of the Air transportation Centers of Excellence was
held at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida in
November of 2003.

The 4th Annual
Joint Meeting of the Air Transportation Centers of Excellence was held
at the Harris Corporation in Melbourne, Florida and at the University of
Central Florida in Orlando in March of 2005. Over 240 participated in the three day
event, and there were 14 sponsors. This meeting represented a
milestone in the wide ranging corporate support of the COE annual meetings.
